ELIZA WILLMOTT

Portfolio

I am a music producer, singer-songwriter and visual artist, releasing under the alias Azileli. My music is primarily electronic, trip hop and alternative RnB, but is expanding to include folk and breakbeat, always paired with my lyrics and layered vocals. Alongside my own music, I have collaborated with a range of artists and I am particularly drawn to projects that are socially engaged (see 'Dosage'). This is something that drew me to my current employment at the music and mental health charity Key Changes, where I mentor, produce and engineer for service users on the programme.

Before this, I studied Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University and developed skills including music production, audio post-production for moving image and sound design, while finding ways to incorporate my love for visual art wherever possible (see 'Installation'). After graduating, I spent 6 months in Paris working with Basement Studios, learning sound engineering and producing for local artists. Since then I have continued to make music for myself and others and I am keen to take on new challenges. This website serves as a portfolio for my diverse range of work.

SHOWREEL

A short video to showcase some of my production, vocal, and compositional work

0:00-0:35 - 'Same Old'. This is a sample of a track from my upcoming EP.

0:36-0:57 - 'UMBRA'. A video piece by Beatriz Matias about the effects of domestic violence on women, featuring my original soundtrack.

0:58-1:31 - '(Not) Only (A) Girl'. An audio - visual installation piece involving canvas paintings and immersive audio. This was used to articulate my experience of being the only female on my music technology course as a way of shedding light upon the issue of gender inequality in the music technology field. MORE INFO.

1:31-2:01 - Milk Before Meat. A short film by Amber Cherry, featuring my original score. I played with changes in tonality as well as sweet, clunky keys to enhance the characters mixed feelings of excitement and dread. The film follows the character Oliver Berry, a Mormon missionary as he struggles between his sexuality and his religion.

2:02-2:31 - 'Flood' music video. Directed, produced and edited by Elizabeth Rose Donovan, the video tells a universal story of an intense relationship epitomised by the metaphor of water vs earth. This was the basis of my own lyrics to the song, the beat of which was produced by King Monday.

2:32 - 3:06 - A.I.D.E.M.

Film short by Jùlia Martinho about the effects of the media on female body image, featuring my original soundtrack. I worked with samples of show tunes for this piece, making them eerie and distorted to fit with the idea of a sinister superficiality.

3:06-end. GUSH. This is a self-released single that will also be a part of my upcoming EP. You can read more about the meaning and process here.
